I used DSL on my first one too, in fact I&#039;ve custom .iso of Damn small linux available here that has all the scripts and programs built in. Or if you prefer you can re-create the wheel and follow my instructions.

I solved the power problem by attaching a small wire to the sliding power button. I just pull the wire to power it up/down.

A major problem with these old laptops is the viewing angle. It also makes a lot of noise. I tried a RAM disk in DOS but the hard disk spins up frequently anyway.</description>

		<description>Really cool!  My brother has a privately owned computer shop and a whole room full of old laptops.  I just phoned him and ran this idea past him.  What an interesting way to use old laptops that would otherwise end up in landfills.</description>
